Entry requirements for 2026

Entry requirements to Hills Road are different to other sixth form centres. We don’t ask for a set group of GCSE grades. Instead, each A level has its own entry requirements, with an Admissions Score and minimum GCSE grade.

Most of our A levels require a GCSE grade 6, and some have alternative routes, including Drama, Dance, Art, Music and languages.

Grade and score entry criteria

Using predicted GCSE grades provided by your school, applicants must meet the relevant Admissions Score and minimum GCSE grade for each A level course applied for.

Applicants must include three eligible A level subjects, but are encouraged to include up to five to allow flexibility if courses are oversubscribed.

As well as meeting our GCSE grade and Admissions Score requirements, there are additional criteria you’ll need to meet when applying to the College, which are shown below. For full details, please refer to our Admissions Policy.

Top tips!

Choosing which A levels to apply for can feel tricky, and the process from application to enrolment can seem confusing at first. The tips below will help you understand what to expect and make your choices with confidence.

More information

As part of your application, your current school must provide a personal reference and your predicted GCSE grades. If you have already achieved any GCSE grades (for example, if you sat an exam early in Year 10), these actual grades should also be included.

This information is automatically requested from your school through the mychoice16.co.uk application platform.

Predicted grades deadline

The College can only accept predicted GCSE grades that are submitted by the 13 January 2026 application deadline. Grades cannot be updated after this point, even if newer predictions or mock exam results become available; only grade errors will be updated.

Applicant's responsibility for accuracy

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that their application includes the most recent and accurate predicted GCSE grades before the application deadline.
