Principal's welcome

It is a privilege to welcome you to Hills Road Sixth Form College.

Hills Road has been an important part of my life for a long time. I was a student here myself and I know first-hand what it feels like to walk through these doors: excited about the future, perhaps a little unsure of what lies ahead and ready to discover what you might be capable of.

Today, as Principal, I have the privilege of seeing that experience from a very different perspective. Every day I see the remarkable things our students achieve, the commitment of our staff and the extraordinary breadth of opportunities that Hills Road offers. Most of all, I see a community that believes passionately in young people and in what they can achieve.

We want every student to be challenged and inspired, to develop confidence and independence, and to discover interests and talents that will stay with them long beyond their time here. As such, we place great importance on relationships, enrichment, creativity, community, and the development of the skills and character that young people need to thrive.

Our students achieve exceptional examination results, opening doors to universities, apprenticeships, careers and opportunities across the world. But for me, those results are not the destination. They are one part of a much bigger journey: helping young people to leave Hills Road believing in themselves, understanding their place in the world and feeling ready to shape their own future.

Hills Road is an ambitious community, but it is also a kind and welcoming one. We want our students to feel that they belong here, that their voices matter and that they are supported to become the very best version of themselves.

I hope that, whether you are a prospective student, a parent or a member of our wider community, you will discover what makes Hills Road such a special place.
