After the success of the Winter Ball 2022, this year’s student council returned with a new twist that was voted in by Hills students.
The theme this year was masquerade, in which hundreds of students could be seen in masks and fancy dress, enjoying live music, freshly cooked food, vibrant lights and decorations. This theme proved to be extremely popular, with tickets selling very quickly!
One of the highlights of the Ball was the Battle of the Bands. This saw five bands, all with iconic sets prepared, from the Foo Fighters to Bruno Mars, thrash it out on the stage!
The competition was incredibly tight, however, after a lot of thought and a round of voting held, The Disco Chickens grabbed first place, while CB5 and Disfunktional were close runners up!
The whole night wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the staff. The student council and Hills students thank all the tutors in the front-of-house, the catering team for their incredible food and baking, Mark Davis and the Music Tech team, Brendan Synge for the perfect stage, the Estates team, the caretakers, the Bursary and finance team, and Dan Cook for the wonderful decorations! A big thank you to Tim Lomas, the student council’s staff lead throughout this process; his support is very much appreciated and enabled the council to provide the best night possible for their peers.
