This year’s Eco Week will raise funds for Just One Tree, a non-profit organisation working to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss through global reforestation projects. Students voted to support a project in Kenya, contributing to the country’s “20 Million Trees for Kenya” initiative, which aims to restore forests and improve water security for local communities. Every £1 donated plants a tree, helping to rebuild ecosystems, support biodiversity and absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
A real highlight of Eco Week, and a staple in the College calendar, is the HR4.5 sponsored fun run and walk (shown left), where students and staff will complete a 4.5km route around the local area. This year's programme will also feature talks from guest speakers including Pippa Heylings MP, local business Greenweigh, and journalist Alan Rusbridger, former editor of The Guardian.
