About the course
Throughout the Ceramics Summer School course, you will build work throughout the day Wed, Thurs and Fri. It will be fired very slowly over the weekend ready to receive glaze and decoration on Mon and Tue the following week.
Whether you are a complete beginner and require guidance from start to finish or are an expert and wish to work independently on your project, this course will help hone your skills.
We encourage our students to approach this course with an idea about what they might like to create. In doing so, you’ll be in a fantastic position to start your ceramics journey and achieve the goals you have set for yourself before the beginning of this course.
If you are unsure about what you would like to create, then researching ceramic works created by independent artists on Pinterest is a great place to start.
If you’re a beginner in this field, you will be guided through various techniques, including pinch, coil, slab building, throwing on the potters’ wheel, surface decoration and much more! More advanced students are free to work on projects independently and can ask for guidance from the class tutor when needed!
Your work can be collected after the course has finished, once it has been finally fired in the kiln. .
