During this Painting with Oils course, you will learn about the basics of oil painting. From understanding aspects of theory to important techniques within this artistic craft, you’ll learn what the best practices are for this exciting medium.
Enrol now for the available days
This Painting with Oils course will provide you with the tools necessary to create a painting. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an intermediary artist, you’ll benefit from this course! However, it’s important to note that it would be useful to have spent at least a year exploring your drawing skills.
This course will introduce you to the tools, paints and mediums used to create oil paintings and how best to use them. You’ll receive an introduction to composition, a step-by-step guide on how to create an oil painting and guidance on how to become an artist.
You will paint from still life and learn how to best use photographs as a resource for painting. Each session will tackle a different aspect of creating a painting, including tonal values, mixing and using colour, brush strokes, from and edges and much more!
As each session is short, you’ll continue a painting across multiple classes. You can expect to work on a maximum of two paintings during this course. We advise that you use a canvas, board, or oil painting paper of around A4 or A3 size.
To book a course, you will need to register online by clicking on the day you would like to attend. Please see the course information below the heading ‘Enrol now for the available days’.
