Travelling to College

We encourage students to be as sustainable as possible when travelling to college, and would advise using options such as public transport, walking or cycling.

There are several bike racks on campus for students to use.

The student cycle park is at the rear of the College, accessible from Purbeck Road.

During the day, there is cycle parking at the front of the College for visitors, or the student cycle park can be used by visitors at weekends.

Your College day

We appreciate that our students travel from a wide range of locations in Cambridge and the wider area. If you have a later start or an earlier finish on your timetable, you do not have to be at college.

However, the campus is open between 8 am and 5 pm and many students choose to spend their time outside lessons in one of our many study areas or social spaces, as well as accessing their departments' lunchtime drop-ins, Careers events, taking part in clubs and societies or visiting the Sports Centre.

Students are also free to use the campus gardens throughout the day. During morning break and at lunchtime, The Cafe and The Hub are open, with hot and cold options and all dietary requirements catered for.

Outside of timetabled requirements, students can leave the campus.

We are fortunate to have Cambridge Leisure Park within a few minutes' walk of the College. The city centre is within a half-hour walk or a 20-minute bus ride.

The surrounding area

Students are welcome to explore both Cambridge Leisure Park and the city centre during free periods and lunchtimes but should factor in time to complete any homework set and ensure you are on campus for timetabled lessons.

Cambridge Leisure Park is just over the road from our campus. It offers many local amenities, including a Sainsbury's local, Tesco Express, gym, cinema, and several restaurants.

There are also several shops, takeaways and cafés located nearby.

Subsidised travel information

If you live in Cambridgeshire you may be able to receive a discount for travelling to and from the College, depending on your public transport provider. Information on some of the options are provided below.

The Tiger Pass, introduced by the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, offers bus travel for just £1 for those under 25. The pass is free of charge and can be used to travel on the bus anywhere within the Combined Authority region.

Many bus companies also offer Student Bus Passes, which give you a reduced travel rate and are often payable either termly or annually.

For transport issues, please deal directly with the County Council and the individual bus and rail operators.

For eligible students, the College's Bursary Fund can also be used to contribute to or cover the cost of travel.
