A rapidly changing world scene makes Geography a vital, dynamic and lively subject. At A level you will study places, people, and the connections between them. To quote Danny Dorling: “Geography is the study of energy; how it builds mountains and then destroys them. It’s also the energy that flows through our atmosphere, bringing us our weather and changing our climate.”
GCSE grade 6 in Geography and grade 4 in Mathematics.
GCSE grade 6 in English Language or 6 in English Literature, 4 in Mathematics and 4 in Geography if studied.
The indicative Minimum Entry Admissions Score for Geography is 58.
The course combines physical with human geography along with integrated fieldwork and an independent research project. Geographers investigate issues such as climate change, population growth and landscape degradation.
Understanding processes behind these changes means that you will gain essential skills necessary to contribute to the management of these issues in the future. You will also develop skills in numeracy, literacy and how to use Geographical Information Systems.
If you enjoy geography at GCSE and you want to know even more about the world around you then A level Geography is for you. Geography is a dynamic subject that helps you to understand the world around you. It is only by understanding the world that you can hope to change it! Geography goes well with almost any combination of arts, science and humanities courses.
