Seeking support

The WPA Benevolent Foundation supports projects throughout the United Kingdom that promote good health and support the purchasing of physical activity equipment in schools and colleges.

Cameron Moon (Sports Department Coordinator) and Adrian Medd (Rugby Coach) approached the WPA to seek support for Hills Road. The WPA subsequently donated a generous contribution £2,500 for a wide range of sporting equipment.

Acting Head of Sport, Stewart Wright (shown left with WPA representative Rebecca Howard), said: “My thanks goes to all those at WPA, and to Cameron and Adrian for helping this to happen."

Grant put to good use

The grant is already being put to good use, as it has enabled Hills Road Sixth Form College to buy a range of upgraded equipment for our Sports and Enrichment programmes.

The equipment is needed to cater for the large sport offering at the College: used for both training and fixtures, it will enable the continuing delivery of our first-class sports programme.

Mr. Stewart Wright, Acting Head of Sport

The College has a dedicated Sport department who work incredibly hard to deliver an outstanding, inclusive and varied extra-curricular programme open to all students. Currently, this programme includes 37 sports teams across 24 different sports.

As Stewart explains, "This programme naturally comes with a significant cost, which is why support from charities - such as the WPA Benevolent Fund - is crucial to maintaining the quality and breadth of sports the students currently enjoy."
