Outstanding performances

In Table Tennis, Rachel Li and Ray Ong both secured gold medals, demonstrating exceptional skill. Incredibly, all Women’s Table Tennis medals went to Hills, with Chloe Spencer and Zoe Ratcliffe (shown playing image left) joining Rachel on the podium with Silver and Bronze medals respectively.

Javier Lee, Assistant Sports Department Coordinator remarked, “Our Table Tennis competitors did a great job making a complex, technical sport look easy.”

A further three Hills students also gained a place at the AoC Nationals in Badminton. Caitlyn Bonnyface and Alicia Burrows placed silver and bronze in the Regionals respectively, with Carolyn Kuang closely following in fourth position (all shown below, wearing pale blue shirts).

In Cross Country, two coveted medals went to Hills in the women’s race: Lilian Corbett earned a Silver medal and Cerys Bithell took Bronze. Reuben Cowell placed fourth and will join them at Nationals in the Men’s race.

Next stop: Nationals!

Javier added: “We had a total of 27 students participating in a broad range of areas at the Regionals, and were extremely proud of all those who represented the College. All demonstrated superb sportsmanship and model behaviour. Bring on the Nationals!”

Congratulations to Rachel, Ray, Chloe, Zoe, Alicia, Caitlyn, Carolyn, Cerys and Reuben on their success. The entire Hills community will be backing them as they represent the East Region at the AoC Championships in Nottingham on 4-6 April.

Elsewhere in sport

Hills students have also put on some very impressive displays in team sports so far this term.

The college's Netball team secured victory in the county cup tournament, matching their strong league performance this term.

Meanwhile, the Men's Volleyball (image left) and Women's Basketball teams have advanced to the next round in the AoC league, joined by the First Rugby Team who dominated fierce rivals Peterborough with a 55-0 win in the Cambridgeshire derby. Congratulations go to all and we look forward to following for future successes!
