A magical Winter Ball seems only fitting this academic year, as we celebrate our College's 50th anniversary. Below, our Student Council share a bit about the night.
"After an exciting and challenging first term for Year 12s and 13, we celebrated the festive season with the 2024 Hills Road Winter Ball in December.
Students dressed up in suits, ball gowns, and all other kinds of black-tie attire, and enjoyed “A Night Under the Stars” in the Hall which was transformed with fairy light stars, projected galaxies, a twinkly photobooth and a fantastic disco!
Food was provided by the incredible canteen staff, preparing a wide variety of dishes, including pizza, chips, tacos, cookies, mince pies and many more, meaning no party-goer went hungry.
The main event, however, had to be the Battle of the Bands, taking place in the Music Department’s Recital Room. Five incredible bands, all made up of entirely Hills Road students, Quack-Attack, Pint Glass, Romsey, Late Reply, and the CB5, took to the stage to battle it out.
All of them gave stunning performances, but it was the CB5 who triumphed with Late Reply claiming a close second. The moment which perhaps won the audience over was when CB5 front man, Alan Jolie, parted the audience and strolled between, running back to the stage as the instantly recognisable chorus of Uptown Funk kicked in.
The Student Council, the Events Reps, and the staff who volunteered to help all made the evening become the great success it was and did a fantastic job.
We, the Student Council, are very grateful to all who made it possible and hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did!"
