2022 leavers reflect on results day, life at Hills, and their next steps

As the class of 2022 bids a fond farewell to Hills Road having received their A level results last week, we asked some students to reflect on their time at the college and to tell us about their progression plans.

Here is what they told us!

Benjamin Lione

Previous School: Comberton Village College
A Level Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Music

Study Music at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge for three years, where I plan to take a wide range of options, including composition, music history - especially Medieval music and 20th-centuryy music, ethnomusicology (world music), and performing amongst other things. Afterwards I don't have a clear career plan but I would really like to be a composer.

Avigayil Yacobi Padan

Going to Southampton University to study music.

Hafsa Amir

A Level Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics

Now that I have achieved the grades that I wanted I will be applying to do medicine, and during my gap year I have started a job as a research lab technician for the POPS study with the University of Cambridge! Working at Addenbrookes will help me to achieve the experience needed for my future course.

Imogen Boxall

Previous School: The Knights Templar School
A Level Subjects: Biology, Geography, German, English Literature

I have a place to study Human Sciences at Mansfield College, University of Oxford starting in October!

Nina Oldham

Previous School: St. Bede’s Inter-Church School
A Level Subjects: English Literature, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Philosophy

I am going on to study for an integrated master’s in mathematics and philosophy at Oxford University. After this I plan to go on to take a secondary master’s in international relations, aiming for a job in the civil service and ultimately a position in an international organisation such as UNICEF. My aim is to live a fulfilling life, for me that is best done through service to others.

Raina Muriithi

Previous School: Cambourne Village College
A Level Subjects: English Literature, Politics, Sociology

I'm going off to the University of York to study Law. Hopefully, I will be able to nurture my interest in either dispute resolution or entertainment law and subsequently work in either area. After completing my undergraduate degree, I will take a post-grad gap year to give myself a breather before starting real adult life.

Remy Jorna

Previous School: The Netherhall School
A Level Subjects: English Literature, German, History

I'm calling it a 'gap year', but I'm technically in the real world now since I'm not going to uni (initially applied to UCAS for 2023 entry, mainly for the skills from the application process). I'm planning on working a part-time job (3 days a week) for the next year while working on my hobbies, hopefully volunteering/other experience relevant to possible careers and some travel. Beyond this next year, I have no clue what I'm doing but I will go with the flow, see what experiences I can get, and see what happens!

Ryan Barkham

Previous School: Bottisham Village College
A Level Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Edinburgh University to study Biomedical Sciences. Right now, I’m looking at careers in: Pharmacology, Genomics, Pathology or toxicology.

Zach Grant

Previous School: Downham Market Academy
A Level Subjects: Business, Mathematics, Physics

I am taking a gap year in which I am hoping to travel the world and get a better understanding of what a day-to-day life entails, then I will be moving onto an accounting apprenticeship in which I can hopefully become a chartered accountant.
