Izzy studies English Language and Literature, Sociology and Politics. She is part of the England U17s Girl’s Roller Hockey Team which recently competed in the Euro Girls 2024 competition where they placed second. Izzy is also part of Hills Road's Hockey team!
The Euro Girls is a European tournament that takes place in Switzerland. England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain (who unfortunately dropped out this year) enter their national teams in this competition.
The England U17s Girl's Roller Hockey Team faced Switzerland in the first round and lost 2-1, despite having more possession and shots at goal. However, in the second leg of the competition, they came back with a fantastic victory against Germany, where they scored 5-3. Next, they faced Italy and drew 4-4.
This enabled them to enter the semi-finals where they went up against Switzerland. The team had an incredible game, beating the home nation 8-4. Unfortunately, the team wouldn’t have the same success in the final, losing to Italy, 5-0.
Coming in second place, in such a tough competition, is a fantastic achievement! Well, done Izzy for all your hard work! We’re so proud of you.
Izzy said that this competition was ‘great experience, which we’ll need when going to the Worlds in September’. We can’t wait to see what the England U17s Girl’s Roller Hockey Team achieve here too!
I went to a fun skate session at the age of 7 at Chesterton school and was invited to join their hockey training session. After that, I just carried on going to the sessions and brought my friend Emily along with me and we have kept going since.
After showing my commitment to the England program in the past and working hard with my team to ensure we were at the best of our abilities, I was selected to be part of the England U17 squad with which I have played for in a few competitions now.
The whole team being in the hostel together was a lot of fun and always a highlight on our trips. Another highlight would be the support and energy from our fans (our parents)!
I have been selected for the reduced squad for the Senior Female England Squad which will compete in the World Championships in September, so I am hoping to be chosen for the team.
