Hills Road students are celebrating the fantastic set of A level results that they have achieved in this first return to a ‘normal’ examination series since 2019.

This set of A level exams is the first external exam series that this cohort has sat following three years of unprecedented Covid disruption to public examinations. With gloomy headlines predicting lower grades and poorer outcomes, Hills Road students have done triumphantly well, defying predictions to achieve a fantastic set of grades, with just under half of all grades at A or A*.
Today marks a moment where we can look back on the last two years and reflect too on some of the brilliant experiences our students have had. There have been so many amazing memories, from raising nearly £40,000 during Social Action Week to celebrating our vibrant community events, such as Culture Fest.
These outstanding outcomes mean that the vast majority of Hills Road students have been able to secure their first-choice destinations, whether in higher education, apprenticeships, or employment. Each year around 93% of our Year 13s progress to university, with many successfully enrolling on the most competitive degree courses. This year is no exception, with students’ outcomes strengthening against the 2019 benchmark to which they were compared.
As with any other year, these results are very much the culmination of a team effort, involving students, teachers, guidance, parents, guardians and all support staff who play such a vital role in enabling the College to run smoothly and provide a great environment in which to allow our students to thrive. We applaud our students for their courage and determination in achieving all that they have.
