About the course
The online Poetry Writing course is suitable for students with no previous experience, but also a place for students who have already been on the course and would like to continue their progression!
Each session will comprise of playful writing exercises and provide a safe and encouraging environment for feedback. The sessions will centre around specific themes such as:
- Figurative language: creating strong similes and metaphors
- Line breaks: the function of enjambment in poetry
- Sound: experimenting with alliteration, assonance and different rhythms
- Visual image: how to evoke colours, light and shade and different patterns in our writing
- Getting to know the current poetry scene: tips on poetry readings, poetry competitions and contemporary poetry magazines.
