About the course

The online Poetry Writing course is suitable for students with no previous experience, but also a place for students who have already been on the course and would like to continue their progression!

Each session will comprise of playful writing exercises and provide a safe and encouraging environment for feedback. The sessions will centre around specific themes such as:

  • Figurative language: creating strong similes and metaphors
  • Line breaks: the function of enjambment in poetry
  • Sound: experimenting with alliteration, assonance and different rhythms
  • Visual image: how to evoke colours, light and shade and different patterns in our writing
  • Getting to know the current poetry scene: tips on poetry readings, poetry competitions and contemporary poetry magazines.

Payment

Payment is made in full at the time of booking.

If you are booking a Level 3 or 4 Counselling course, you will be able to pay for this using a Direct Debit, which you will set up before the course starts in September. Please check the relevant course pages for details.
