Nola to represent the UK at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Congratulations to Y13 student Nola Guy for being selected to be part of the team representing the UK at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics.

This news comes after Nola received a silver medal in the British Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad (BAAO, round 2) and was invited to a training camp at Oxford University.

Nola will now be part of the team to represent the UK at the International Olympiad, which will take place in Brazil. The UK team will compete with over 40 other nations.

The main goal of the IOAA is to promote the growing interest in Astronomy and related STEM subjects, especially through the general education of young people, and enhancing the development of international contacts among different countries in promoting Astronomy and Astrophysics in schools.

The IOAA will be hosted at Vassouras, Rio de Janeiro state between 17 and 26 August this year. Congratulations Nola, this is an incredible achievement and one you should be extremely proud of. We can’t wait to hear more about your trip to Brazil and this wonderful competition.

Nola is so enthusiastic about Physics and has shown a lot of determination when preparing for the camp and taking up the challenge. This will be a unique experience, so well deserved, and we are thrilled for her!
