Ben Musk is a Y12 student who studies Economics, History (Crisis, Conflict and Communism), and Geography. In January 2024, Ben was “highly commended” for his work in the School Essay Competition, run by the Royal Geographical Society.
Congratulations to Ben Musk who has been “highly commended” for his essay in the Royal Geographical Society’s School Essay Competition.
To compete to have his work published, Ben had to write an essay on “what risks are associated with climate change and what should we be doing about it?”
His answers needed to briefly explain what climate change is, as well as identifying consequences and mitigation strategies. Throughout his essay, Ben would have to use a wide range of sources and expertly place them within footnotes.
A panel of judges examined over 120 entries to decide who would have their work featured on the Royal Geographical Society’s website (or the Financial Times in the case of the winner).
The judges were looking for a clear essay that was well-evidenced and reached a clear conclusion. Luckily, Ben’s essay fit this bill and his work was consequently placed on the website.
Well done for all your hard work Ben, this is a fantastic achievement and one you should be truly proud of. We’re all looking forward to reading more of your work in the future!
