About the course

The Makaton Level 1 course is an introduction to the Makaton Language Programme and its key principles. This course is accompanied by a participant manual containing all the line drawings of the signs and all the symbols that you are taught on the course. It also contains practice exercises and notes to complement the information sessions.

This is a certificated course and as such you will be able to move on to further levels of the Makaton Language Programme.

You will learn signs and symbols from Stage 1, 2 and some of the additional vocabulary of the Makaton Core Vocabulary. These include the signs and symbols for establishing interaction and immediate needs, home and family, familiar objects, food and activities.
