Dressmaking Next Steps Summer School

The Dressmaking Next Steps course is for students who already have some experience with Dressmaking and wish to practice and develop these skills further.

About the course

Throughout the Dressmaking Next Steps Summer School, you’ll learn a variety of different techniques to improve your sewing skills. This course is ideal for those looking to improve their sewing skills and take on more challenging projects.

During this course, you’ll learn a variety of different techniques to improve your sewing skills: 

  • Understanding dressmaking terminology
  • Work from a more challenging sewing pattern
  • Learn how to adjust commercial sewing patterns, such as moving darts, lengthening or shortening shoulders etc 
  • A plethora of more advanced garment construction techniques, including invisible zippers, fly zips, welt pockets, plackets, using twin needles and more 

Depending on your pace, one or more basic garments may be produced throughout this week-long course.

Payment is made in full at the time of booking.

If you are booking a Level 3 or 4 Counselling course, you will be able to pay for this using a Direct Debit, which you will set up before the course starts in September. Please check the relevant course pages for details.
